Holy Visions in Tampa

Saturday night in Ybor City, AFI turned The Ritz into a gothic cathedral of sweat, eyeliner, and catharsis. It’s been over a decade since they last stalked this stage, and the wait was worth every echo.

The Ritz, with its century-old bones and low-hung chandeliers, was the perfect venue. The place throbbed like a heart—brick walls sweating, fans pressed shoulder-to-shoulder in the pit, the floor moving like waves when “Girl’s Not Grey” and “17 Crimes” hit. The sound was tight: drums punchy, guitars slicing, vocals soaring clean, fierce and fabulous.

Havok, ever the shape-shifter, played the crowd like a violin—leaping onto the barricade, throwing the mic stand, letting choruses turn into a full-throated choir.

By the end of the night, shirts were drenched, eyeliner streaked, smiles wide. AFI didn’t just play a show—they conducted a ceremony in noise and nostalgia, proof that after nearly thirty years, the fire still burns.
